Transport Care chooses new path into the future

Transport Care = Independent integrator

In the past few months Transport Care has decided to move forward as an independent integration and solution provider.

“We’ve been known in the market as distributor of a transport management system for 10 years, so it wasn’t an easy decision to make. We had to rethink our company’s strategy but we are convinced that the independency of Transport Care offers more benefits than restraints.”

This decision affects Transport Care’s core business but offers huge opportunities. “We’ve always focused on the larger transportation companies as a target audience for the transport management system. The experience and network we gained from this market segment during 10 years will be capitalized in the future. Professional project management, delivery on time, the development of software optimisations and playing our part as solution integrators are still our key values,” says Steven Vandenabeele, operations manager at Transport Care.

Changing market conditions = changing focus

The transport sector has gone through a lot of changes during the last few years. Transport adapted a cleaner, more interconnected image resulting in more cooperation between partners within the supply chain. This change wasn’t voluntary but obligatory to survive the economic situation where volumes and transport prices dropped drastically. Since a few years there is more investment in optimization software (with tangible short term return on investment) for transport back office systems than investment in back office systems themselves. “This is an evolution we have seen with customers since 2011”, says Steven Vandenabeele, operations manager of Transport Care. He continues, “Until 2011, the focus of transport companies was on reporting tools to get an insight in where to cut costs. Now that this is somewhat under control, the focus is changing to “how can we achieve more with less”. Adding to that, customers of transport companies require more services (like EDI and E-billing) and a more transparent, preferably real-time communication on how their goods are handled.

Transport Care = Transport optimisation modules & consulting

As of 1/07/2013 Transport Care will be completely focused on TMS independent optimization modules and consulting. One of the first modules which will be released is the Transport Care Order Synchronizer (TCOS). This is a middleware solution with a graphical user interface which accepts and imports transport orders from any customer or commercial interface into any transport management system. The TCOS is already operational since 2012 and currently features standard support for 9 inbound connections, including standard support for transport orders delivered by industry standards (EDIFACT, GS1, ...), .xml or .xlsx. The number of available interfaces will continue growing in the future.

“The return on investment that this module can deliver for both transport company (drastic reduction in order input time) and transport management system provider (focus on core business of transport management R&D instead of losing time to custom interfaces) is quite tremendous.   We’ve seen, depending on the amount of inbound connections and orders, a return on investment of as low as a few months, “concludes Steven Vandenabeele.
