French motorway traffic falls 51% in Q2 2020
Revenues and traffic down as COVID restrictions diminish movements
French motorway operator APRR, a subsidiary of the French construction company Eiffage, reported a 43% decrease in revenue during the second quarter of 2020 as traffic volumes halved.
According to a report in Les Echos this week, toll revenue has dropped to EUR 356.50mn (USD 411.20mn) in Q2, due to traffic restrictions imposed during the lockdown.
The company reports a 51% decrease in overall traffic, measured in the number of kilometres travelled.
There was a 56% decrease for passenger vehicles and a 24% decrease for heavy trucks.
Traffic volumes have been slowly picking up since the lockdown says APRR, but thing have not yet returned to 2019 levels.
