Amazon to build 1 million-sq-ft distribution centre in Florida

Central-Florida warehouse will handle large consumer items

Amazon has announced plans to open a one million square foot fulfilment centre in Deltona, Florida.
Its role will be to handle large items, such as sports equipment, patio furniture, fishing rods, pet food, kayaks, bicycles, and larger household goods.

The new unit is to create more than 500 full time jobs.
It already has facilities situated in the state, located in Orlando, Miami, Tampa and Jacksonville.

The project is being developed by Seefried Industrial Properties.

“We’re excited to continue our investment in Florida and further expand our presence in the state with this new fulfilment centre in Deltona,” said Alicia Boler Davis, Amazon’s vice president of global customer fulfilment. “Since 2013 Amazon has invested more than US$5bn in Florida through local fulfilment centres and cloud infrastructure, research facilities, and compensation to thousands of employees in the state.”
