Ekol is growing in Poland

Ekol Logistics entered the Polish market in May 2015 and has just opened another warehouse in Koninko (near Poznań).

Ekol is an international logistics operator present in 14 countries with more than 5,500 own transport means.  It already operates 48 dedicated train trips weekly between Trieste and Cologne, Kiel or Ludwigshafen in Germany, Trieste and Ostrava in Czechia and also between Paris and Sete in France.

The new facility near Poznan is a cross-dock warehouse used for international groupage transports. The new facility is located near the A2 motorway (East - West) and close to a railway terminal as it is a part of the company policy to offer a wide range of intermodal services.

“The total available capacity in our new warehouse is 2,100 m2. We have seven loading ramps and one entry gate. The warehouse is heated and it can service various product groups. Apart from a cross-dock, the new location has a logistics warehouse with the possibility to install high-storage racking system.” – said Marcin Trawczyński, Ekol Branch Manager in Poznań.

Ekol specializes in intermodal transport and the close vicinity of a rail terminal allows for sending shipments by rail.

“In addition to  Sosnowiec, this new warehouse close to Poznań, is our second investment in a cross-dock in Poland. In 2017 we will also open a warehouse in Wrocław.  It is worth mentioning we have 5 branches in Poland  already in: Sosnowiec, Poznan, Wrocław, Łódź and Warsaw, in next few weeks we will open also 6th in Tychy.”- adds Artur Pohl, Country Manager, Ekol Poland.

Despite being present on the Polish market for less than two years, Ekol already employs more than 60 people. The estimated turnover in this country for 2016 is EUR 16 million.

"We keep on developing intermodal connections in Europe. For example, shipments sent from Turkey or Greece to Poland are transported by a Ro-Ro ferry  from Istanbul (with a stop in Lavrio, near Athens) to the port of Trieste. The next leg of the route is covered by train to Ostrava from where they are transported by road to Sosnowiec. Currently we offer 8 regular weekly rail connections between Ostrava and Trieste.” – says Artur Pohl.

Intermodal solutions offered by Ekol are supported by additional services such as domestic and international road transport (for various shipment volumes), contract logistics and specialized customs services.

In the next few months Ekol is planning to enter new countries. Apart from this expansion the company will open more branches in countries it exists already in order to build a wider network in the foreseeable future.  More offices and warehouses are planned soon not only in the territory of Poland but in Spain, Bulgaria and Romania as well.
