Wearables in the warehouse; eBay - a supply chain darling; DHL webinar; Latest logistics stats, Logistics CIO's to meet

Our own Haley Garner has released the second in his 6 part series of Supply Chain Darlings, this week looking at eBay who will be attending eft’s 8th North American Hi-Tech & Electronics Summit. Make sure you also check out this great article from David Upton on wearables…think Google Glass…Augmented Reality….not too long ago this was science fiction, then just something that Google were playing with, now you will be seeing them in warehouses and on drivers in ever increasing numbers. Earlier this year, the VP of Supply Chain for Home Depot let me try his Google Glass, and I was very impressed. More importantly, he could see the time in the next 5 years or so when all his warehousemen would be wearing them.

On the subject of disruptive technology, take a look at eft's latest research package on big data, which examines how big data is driving change in the supply chain and logistics industry. In a world where everyone has the capability to leverage machine potential and maximise human productivity through the use of big data, how can the logistics and supply chain industry take advantage of this game-changing phenomenon?

2 more action items for you this week. Firstly, make sure you sign up for a great webinar from DHL Express on choosing your profitable customers/shipments - and if you are in Europe and work in the IT function within transport and logistics then apply for your complimentary pass to the 16th Logistics CIO Forum in Amsterdam next month.

Kind Regards,

Chris Saynor

CEO, eft
